my new spelling/punctuation peeve

this was a new one for me. from wired, via google reader.

aaaaaaah! beware the amyloid plague!!!

this headline caught my eye. a viral factor for alzheimer’s? could be fascinating, if you’re a public health geek like me.

but no, someone just misspelled “plaque”. shucks.

what do lawyers and barbie dolls have in common?

background: on june 28, 19-year-old ronnie white is charged with the june 27 slaying of a PG county police officer. he winds up dead while in police custody on june 29; on june 30, the medical examiner rules it a homicide. righteous community anger to follow.

attorney for the family holds news conference today, and states the following:

[whoever killed white] took it upon themselves to be both the judge, the jury and the executioner.

you got it. math is hard.

it was funnier the first time around

further proof that nothing original ever comes out of (off of?) capitol hill, some witty schmos have started “stuff hill people like.” really, now, shouldn’t #1 be “stealing other people’s ideas“?

note to the hill folk: wordpress is a cooler platform than blogger. srsly.

yippeeeeeeeee!

Oh how I would love to get my hands on these data!

thank you, thank you, thank you dalton conley, for not writing “that data”! (remember, class, “data” is plural for “datum.”)

hey, wait, someone tell me — when does it transmogrify from data to information? and is information singular or plural? i think my head’s gonna explode….

oh, hey — this post is directly relevant to the one below. how cool is that? NERDS RULE!!!!

(will someone take my coffee away from me now? please?)
