I've seen a lot of ugly ones. But the Kermit one kinda works for me. Probably because, as a muppet, he's got clean lines. I’m inclined to agree. I’ve seen a lot of ugly ones.

By the looks of that website, it seems to be targetted towards the sort of city geeks who will know what the DC street grid and the inside of a Metro station look like. If that blog was just some guy talking about his personal life, then you'd have a point, but by the looks of it, he/she is giving niche readers niche product.
