double rainbow
driving back from point lookout this afternoon, we left a downpour in dc and headed toward bright sunshine in arlington. the result of this was a gorgeous double rainbow, to which this phone pic really doesn’t do justice.

huh– we had maybe the most spectacular double rainbow I’ve ever seen in Motreal last Wednesday. Must be something in the air, so to speak…

Years ago, I worked for a company in Evanston, Illinois just north of Chicaog. The offices had a lovely view of the campus of Northwestern University with Lake Michigan in the background.
One afternoon a thunderstorm rolled through the area and, right afterward, the business owner, ran around the office telling all of us to gather on the east side of the building. I thought it was some sort of business emergency but he really wanted to point out a gorgeous double rainbow over the lake. We stood in the conference room for about a half hour eating up a couple of thousand dollars of company money but it was worth it.
I was always sort of happy that my office was in the back overlooking some train tracks. I don’t think I would have gotten any work done in a place where I could stare at the lake.
