perfect for sociopaths

a pilot program to bypass customs! what could possibly go wrong?

it really makes a lovely juxtaposition with those haldol-happy ICE officers. anyone else think we were a more humane nation when we had the immigration and naturalization service, rather than immigration and customs enforcement?

i tell ya, i really should stop reading the morning paper.

That sounds like the same service the Canadian government offers that I enrolled in, back when you made fun of me for letting ‘em scan my irises. It’s a massive, massive timesaver. It relies on me to answer all the little questions truthfully– but, hey, so does handing the form to a bored customs agent. What’s your objection?

laloca sez: seems to me an opt-out program defeats the point of having a customs check at the airport. seems to me it’s an acknowledgment that airport customs is rather pointless, in which case it should be abolished completely. (i’m differentiating customs from immigration or other airport security measures, for which i don’t think an opt-out program should exist at all.)
