Very cool. Some of them remind me of Claes Oldenburg. Do you know if he was responsible for, say, the big dresser? (Though it seems a bit divergent from his style. He tends to go for objects that are usually smaller than a dresser.) And is the cave thing a mural, or 3D? I can’t really tell. Which suggests a good trompe l’oeil if it’s a flat painting…
laloca sez: no idea on the dresser (although the town it’s in is home to an american idol winner, i think. or something like that. there was a sign.); the mural is totally flat. i have a photo of james and snuffy standing in front of it, but it was getting dark and i forgot to change the “film speed” on the camera to compensate, so it’s not great. we also saw waffle house #1 and waffle house #1000, which are (perhaps not coincidentally) down the street from one another. #1 is no longer a waffle house, or much of anything. so sad.
