i need to think about this one
cnn reports that tommy thompson has thrown his hat into the presidential three-ring circus. i’m not sure how i feel about this; my initial reactions are largely superficial. for example, i wonder about the wisdom of having a president named “tommy.” would i start humming pinball wizard every year at the state of the union address? and what about his record on health issues? i don’t remember being too thrilled with him or with the direction hhs took under his tenure, but my memory is sketchy enough that more research is warranted.

you must be jesting (april fool?) tommy thompson was booed at the 2004 AIDS conference in Barcelona. his revenge was to blacklist the conference, so that scientists can no longer use federal $ to attend. let’s see – we really don’t want NIAID researchers mixing with those radicals do we?
